Senator Orji Kalu has officially withdrawn his support for Abia State Governor Alex Otti, vowing to shift his full attention to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking on Thursday from his home in Igbere, Kalu claimed responsibility for assisting Otti’s 2023 victory but stated that partnership is now over.

The former governor cited a disparaging press statement from the Governor’s office as the “last straw,” noting that he can no longer support an administration that publicly criticizes his loyalty to the APC and President Bola Tinubu.

Senator Orji Kalu has formally declared an end to his political alliance with Governor Alex Otti, citing “unacceptable insults” from the Governor’s camp. Kalu noted that despite keeping quiet for two years out of friendship, the administration “fired the first salvo” by attacking his commitment to the APC.

He made it clear that while he supported Otti’s 2023 victory, he will now focus solely on his own party. Furthermore, Kalu downplayed the Governor’s achievements, claiming that many celebrated projects are merely “rehabilitations” of roads Kalu himself built during his tenure as governor.

“He’s just repatching my old roads,” Senator Orji Kalu declared in a scathing review of Governor Alex Otti’s term. Kalu insisted that the current administration’s achievements pale in comparison to his own, specifically citing his provision of free social services and major new road construction.

He challenged Otti to show “new major roads” rather than rehabilitations of 20-year-old projects, adding that as a Senator, he is currently doing more for rural communities than the state government.
