At the 33rd matriculation ceremony of Kogi State Polytechnic, the Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo, reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to a student-centric academic experience. Speaking on Thursday at the Lokoja main campus, Professor Ogbo promised the incoming class access to modernized laboratories, a fully functional library, and an ICT-driven examination framework. He emphasized that these upgrades are designed to foster a high-standard learning environment while equipping students with essential entrepreneurial skills.
Professor Ogbo emphasized that the institution remains steadfast in its commitment to discipline and transparency. He warned the new intake that the Polytechnic maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward all social vices. Instead, the administration aims to cultivate an atmosphere of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and the development of responsible leadership among the student body.
Kogi State Polytechnic has significantly broadened its national reach, with the Rector revealing that the current student body now represents 32 states of the federation. This is a notable increase from the 26 states represented in the previous academic session. Professor Salisu Ogbo attributed this growth to the institution’s “non-negotiable” commitment to security, moral discipline, and academic integrity, which he described as the heart of the school’s philosophy.
Professor Salisu Ogbo highlighted that the institution’s academic stability has transformed it into a national hub. He noted that while the 2023/2024 session saw students from 26 states, that number jumped to 32 in the 2024/2025 session. In the current 2025/2026 intake, the Polytechnic has reached a record representation of 33 states, covering 91.66% of the federation.
The Rector described this growth as proof that the school is a “true melting pot” and a reflection of Kogi State’s identity as a “confluence of opportunities.”
