The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has debunked a fraudulent press release currently trending on social media that falsely claims the agency is hiring.
In a clarifying statement released via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, NAFDAC confirmed that the recruitment announcement is entirely fake and did not originate from their office. While the agency acknowledged that it does hire qualified Nigerians periodically, it emphasized that no such process is currently underway.
Officials warned the public to ignore these deceptive posts, noting that scammers often use such misinformation to mislead and extort money from desperate job seekers.
NAFDAC emphasized that it has not issued any notices regarding new job openings, stating clearly that all legitimate updates are shared exclusively through its official website and verified communication channels. The agency urged Nigerians to stay alert and cross-check any job-related news directly with official NAFDAC platforms before taking action.
This warning comes amid a surge of sophisticated government recruitment scams hitting the country in early 2026. NAFDAC is not alone in this struggle; other major bodies, including the EFCC and the NMDPRA, have recently been forced to issue similar alerts to protect citizens from organized extortion rings.
