

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called on Nigerians to view environmental conservation and sanitation as a collective duty for all citizens.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday to mark the International Day of Clean Energy 2026, themed “Clean Energy for People and Planet,” the First Lady emphasized that the occasion serves as a vital reminder of the nation’s shared obligation to safeguard the environment. She advocated for a transition toward greener living, stating that adopting renewable energy and sustainable technology is a fundamental requirement for human survival, public health, and responsible environmental management.
The First Lady concluded her message with a call to action, stating, “Let us collaborate to create a more sustainable and healthier world for everyone,” while extending her best wishes to all Nigerians on the occasion.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the International Day of Clean Energy is celebrated every year on January 26. Established by the United Nations General Assembly under resolution A/77/327, the day is dedicated to increasing global awareness and driving efforts toward a fair and inclusive shift to renewable energy sources, ensuring positive outcomes for both humanity and the environment.
