Don Jazzy (Michael Ajereh), the influential music producer and Mavin Records boss, revealed that the fear of heartbreak and divorce is the main reason he hasn’t remarried, despite his fame. Speaking on the HabbyFX YouTube channel on Monday, the 42-year-old explained that public stories of failed relationships, cheating, and social media scandals have made him wary of commitment.

Don Jazzy, who was briefly married from 2003 to 2005, noted that while he still believes in love—citing his deeply committed parents before his mother’s death—the current reality of modern dating makes him cautious. He added that negative experiences, including those involving “violent, chronic cheats” among men, often make people more cautious about relationships.

Don Jazzy elaborated that the constant exposure to conflict on social media exacerbates his anxiety: “And then when it now comes out on social media, you come out and you see like relationship bad breakups and people coming out to come and put out people’s dirty laundry outside; it now gives me a fear,” he explained. The Mavin Records founder further admitted that the financial risks associated with marriage add significantly to his hesitation.

He cited cases where men, lacking prenuptial agreements, lose huge portions of their wealth in divorce, stating, “A man has to lose half of all that he has worked for in his life… All those things used to scare me. The money that I have amassed is for my generation.” When asked about his current status, Don Jazzy confirmed he is single but remains open to finding love.

Don Jazzy confirmed his relationship history but stated, “Currently, I’m single.” He admitted that fear is the main factor keeping him unattached, adding, “God’s time is the best. I just want the right person. At the same time, I’m not sure if I’m the right person for somebody’s daughter.”

Reflecting on his personal evolution, Don Jazzy admitted he is still working on becoming a better partner and man. He openly questioned his readiness for commitment: “Am I the ideal partner? Am I disciplined enough to be with one person?” He continued, “As I am working on myself, I pray to God on how to make myself a better person. Over the years, I have become a better person. When I was young, I was a menace, but I’m getting older and wiser.”

Regarding his work life, the Mavin boss noted a major shift to a quieter, more disciplined routine, preferring to stay indoors—either at his house, office, or studio, all of which are close together. He explained that he now delegates heavily, having capable people in place to handle issues, only requiring his guidance for major decisions. He stressed the necessity of teamwork in his success, stating, “One can’t do it by themselves. Even God is all-powerful, but He can’t do everything by Himself.” Finally, when asked about his favorite artists, he found it difficult to choose due to his broad creative range.

Don Jazzy explained the difficulty of choosing a favorite artist, attributing it to his broad creative range: “It’s not as easy as that for me because, as a creative person, or like a music producer, like that siren I’m hearing now is giving me an idea for beats.” He highlighted artists like Johnny Drille as highly talented “all-rounders” and noted his preference for his own Mavin artists. He then credited Wizkid, Davido, Burna, 2Face, D’banj, and Olamide for being the key figures who “pushed the culture forward.”

Regarding his spirituality, the producer confirmed he maintains his belief in God by birth but expressed increasing skepticism about churches due to certain contemporary practices. Despite his many personal fears, Don Jazzy’s honesty and humility have continued to earn him widespread admiration from fans, who praise him for openly discussing his insecurities and faith in an industry that often demands a façade of fame and perfection.
