Ahead of the 2025 Yuletide celebrations, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, has ordered the strategic deployment of 2,202 police officers across the Federal Capital Territory. According to a statement released Thursday by command spokesperson Josephine Adeh, the deployment is part of a festive season operational order designed to safeguard residents and visitors.
Personnel have been stationed at critical areas, including places of worship, recreational hubs, event centres, major highways, and motor parks. The Command emphasized that these efforts are bolstered by intelligence-led patrols and a significant increase in visibility policing to ensure a peaceful holiday period.
As the Federal Capital Territory transitions into 2026, the FCT Police Command has reaffirmed its resolute commitment to maintaining peace, safety, and public order. In a statement, the Command detailed the deployment of 2,202 personnel as part of the 2025 festive season operational order.
This proactive measure is specifically designed to ensure a “peaceful, secure, and hitch-free celebration” for everyone in the territory. Officers have been strategically stationed at places of worship, recreational hubs, major highways, and motor parks, with these efforts bolstered by enhanced visibility policing and intelligence-led patrols.
Command spokesperson Josephine Adeh detailed the mobilization of tactical units, rapid response squads, and patrol teams to carry out intensified foot and vehicular patrols throughout the FCT. To forestall criminal activity, the police are closely monitoring and raiding “black spots,” uncompleted buildings, and shanties that could be exploited by criminals. In line with the Inspector-General’s directives, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units have also been deployed to conduct routine sweeps of places of worship and public gathering points. CP Dantawaye urged residents to stay vigilant and law-abiding, reporting any suspicious activity via the command’s emergency lines.
Recognizing that the festive season consistently brings heightened security challenges across Nigeria, the FCT Police Command has launched its latest deployment as part of a recurring annual strategy. This established protocol is specifically designed to safeguard worship centers, public gathering spots, and vital transport corridors, ensuring that the Christmas and New Year celebrations remain peaceful and secure for all residents.
