Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze as the inaugural Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services. This historic appointment follows the recent upgrade of the Nigeria Police Force Medical Section to a full-fledged directorate.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced on Thursday that the move aims to provide comprehensive and efficient healthcare services for police personnel nationwide. IGP Egbetokun congratulated AIG Eze and urged her to leverage her expertise to make the new directorate a benchmark for excellence in police healthcare delivery.
The official statement describes AIG Nkechi Eze as a distinguished clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator with over 27 years of exemplary service. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and originally from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, AIG Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery ($\text{BDS}$) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and a Master’s in Public Health ($\text{MPH}$) from the University of Benin.
Her illustrious career spans various police formations across states including Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she has consistently advanced police healthcare services and officer welfare.
The IG stated that establishing the Directorate of Force Medical Services is a strategic investment aimed at improving the well-being and productivity of police personnel. He described this improvement as absolutely essential to the operational efficiency of the entire Police Force.
