In a message shared via his official X handle on Wednesday, the Minister provided a morale boost for the squad, emphasizing that they carry the hopes and backing of Nigerians both within the country and across the diaspora. “Dear Super Eagles, as you prepare to face Morocco in the AFCON semifinals, I want you to know that the whole of Nigeria stands firmly with you,” Idris declared.

Reflecting on the team’s impressive run throughout the tournament, the Minister lauded their consistency and character. He noted that their progress has been a source of national inspiration, stating: “Match after match, you have shown discipline, courage, and belief, reminding us why the Super Eagles remain one of Africa’s most respected teams.”

The Minister further invoked Nigeria’s storied legacy on the continental stage to inspire the squad. “You are no strangers to this stage,” he remarked, reminding the players that they possess the necessary experience to succeed at this elite level. He pointed to Nigeria’s historical AFCON successes and their track record of overcoming formidable rivals as evidence of their ability to represent the nation with distinction.

Idris also called for a display of collective resolve and unity during the encounter. He urged the players to keep the weight of national expectation in mind as they take the field: “As you step onto the pitch, remember that you are not alone. You carry the hopes of millions of Nigerians.” He emphasized that the citizenry maintains complete faith in the team, drawing national pride and strength from their resilient performances throughout the competition.

The Minister exhorted the team to exhibit the poise of winners, the cohesion of a family, and an unrelenting drive for victory. He urged the players to maintain their concentration, rely on their teammates, and commit themselves fully to the contest from the opening kick until the final whistle.

In his final words of encouragement, the Minister challenged the squad to etch a new milestone in the nation’s sporting history. He called on them to compete with passion and national pride, concluding: “Tonight, go out there and write another proud chapter in our football story… Play for Nigeria. God bless you, Super Eagles. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
