The Federal Government has enacted a nationwide ban on the export of wood and allied products, effective immediately. Announcing the move at the 18th National Council on Environment in Katsina, the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, revealed that all existing licenses and permits have been revoked. The directive, formalized under the “Presidential Executive Order on the Prohibition of Exportation of Wood and Allied Products, 2025,” aims to halt illegal logging and preserve Nigeria’s forests, which the Minister described as “central to environmental sustainability.”
