Nigerian Army Publishes Shortlist for Short Service Combatant Commission Course 49/2026.

The Nigerian Army has published the list of successful applicants for the Short Service Combatant Commission Course 49/2026 Selection Board. The Military Secretary (Army) confirmed the full list is available on the recruitment portal: recruitment.army.mil.ng. All shortlisted candidates are required to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Ribadu Campus (Old Site), Kaduna State, by the mandated date of December 1, 2025.

The Army instructed candidates to be in Kaduna by November 30, 2025, and to report to the Selection Board venue between 6 am and 11 am on December 1, 2025. A strict warning was issued: any candidate arriving after the 11 am deadline on December 1, 2025, “will be automatically disqualified.” Furthermore, candidates must present both original and photocopies of all academic and professional credentials, including their NYSC discharge or exemption certificates.

For documentation compliance, candidates are required to present a valid birth certificate, certificate of state of origin, BVN printout, and NIN slip, in addition to the completed forms from the SSCC portal. For personal logistics, the Army specified that candidates must come prepared with writing materials, blue shorts, white T-shirts, white canvas shoes, toiletries, beddings, and full-size coloured photographs. They must also bring scratch cards needed to verify WAEC or NECO results.

A crucial requirement is a “duly signed Letter of Consent” from parents or guardians, legally sworn to prevent them from seeking compensation for injury or death during the selection process. The comprehensive selection includes document checks, physical and medical screenings, academic tests, and an oral interview. Candidates were cautioned that any document alteration automatically invalidates the entire submission. While candidates will receive accommodation and feeding, they are responsible for their transportation. The Army explicitly prohibited the use of private vehicles and all visits from outsiders for the duration of the course. A high level of discipline is demanded, with any instruction violation resulting in immediate disqualification.

Stating that the Selection Board is inherently a military exercise, the Nigerian Army emphasized that it shall not be liable for any injuries or deaths recorded. The Army also stressed that all candidates must adhere to a high standard of discipline and warned that non-compliance with any instruction during the process will result in immediate disqualification.
